A/N:
I wrote this a bazillion years ago, not long after the first season finished airing, and kept it, thinking I was going to be able to make it longer. Then I kept rereading it and realized that it made a great one-shot drabbly thing. And then came along the 100 Themes, and I had somewhere to put it! :D
Disclaimer: I don't own Psych or the characters. Yet. My lawyer and I are working on that... (J/K! Don't sue me!)

If Gus had been playing Shawn’s best friend in one of those TV dramas (not that Shawn’s life could be made into a TV drama without an absurd amount of editing), this would be the point when he would plunge into a spiral of resentment and begin nefariously plotting to destroy the relationship between Shawn and his time-absorbing new girlfriend, Juliet.

Fortunately for the happy new couple, this wasn’t TV. Contrary to how his television doppelganger would feel, Gus was actually pleased, and even a little bit relieved that Juliet had come along.

Shawn was his best friend, and he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with him—regardless of whatever stupid thing they were doing—but it had been a long, long time since Shawn had lingered in Santa Barbara so long, and he was out of practice keeping up with his boundless amounts of energy. Even if he was used to it though—Shawn was just too much personality for one person, so having Juliet around to shoulder some of the load was a welcome reprieve. Now he really would be able to keep up (or at least follow a few steps behind instead of a mile behind) and he could really (secretly) enjoy every minute of madness.
